Mumbai fire-fighters get hands on training on how to save life

Byculla Fire Brigade head office witnessed more than 100 fire-fighters who attended training session conducted by Bhatia Hospital yesterday on how to save people’s life during emergency.

While handling crisis situation in accident there are chances of casualties and deaths both to civilians as well as firefighters. This session gave firefighters hands on training to identify severe cases with life threatening injuries and ways to handle such a situation. It explained the important role of First aid kit at the site of the Mumbai-fire-fightersaccident. The session also trained fire-fighters on how to prevent/treat themselves from burn.

Dr. Shailesh Ranade, Plastic Surgeon, Bhatia Hospital said, “Emergency services like Fire Brigade face several crisis situations every now and then. It is therefore of utmost importance for Fire Fighters to identify victims who may have been seriously injured and provide medical support immediately to save their lives. This training intends to prepare them to face any such situation effectively and efficiently.”

“It is not just the civilians who may be stuck in an emergency situation, but many times Fire Fighters also find themselves stranded with injuries. The ultimate objective of the program is to enable them to be able to take correct steps to safeguard themselves from any such injuries, especially burn related,” added Dr Ranade.
