Hundreds of employess from corporates screened ahead of World Cancer day

  • An initiative of DLF5 and DLF Foundation to raise awareness of Cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment
  • Screening test for prostate, cervical and breast cancer was undertaken

Ahead of World Cancer day, DLF5 and DLF Foundation organized a day-long cancer screening and awareness camp at Horizon Plaza, DLF5. Hundreds of corporate working in One Horizon and Two Horizon center actively participated and got themselves screened. DLF Mobile Wellness Unit, an initiative of DLF Foundation was stationed at Horizon Plaza which facilitated free of cost early detection and screening of prostate, cervical and breast cancer. A team of doctors including a gynecologist, pathologist, and lab technicians conducted the screening camp.


A joint initiative of DLF5 and DLF Foundation, it was aimed to create awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. Apart from cancer screening other basic tests like blood pressure, diabetes, and liver function were also undertaken.

The cancer screening camp was organized to mark World Cancer Day which would be observed worldwide on February 4. World Cancer Day is commemorated worldwide to create awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

“This initiative aims to provide people with information, resources, and assistance to find convenient access to services and programmes for prevention and early detection of cancer. With the alarming speed at which cancer has spread across the nation, there is a need to educate people about the importance of its early screening to ensure control and treatment at the earliest,” said Vinay Sahni, CEO, DLF Foundation.

“Cancer is a deadly disease. As prevention is better than cure, such noble initiatives are a must to ensure healthy living and should be undertaken more frequently,” said Anmol Garg, a corporate professional who participated in the camp.

The DLF Mobile Wellness Unit was stationed at Horizon Plaza which has offices of corporates namely Vistara, Hyatt Hotels, GlaxoSmithKline, Apple Inc., American Express, Coca-Cola, Zomato, Corporatedge, British Council among others.

According to a report of Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), the highest numbers of cancer cases are recorded from Haryana followed by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Healthcare has emerged as a major concern in India with over a staggering 70% of the population having no or limited access to it. Additionally, wide gaps between the rural and urban population in the healthcare system exacerbate the problem.

The DLF Mobile Wellness Unit is based out of a bus which has been completely remodeled to cater for Medical examination and testing. The aim of the DLF Mobile Wellness Unit (MWU) is to provide to the people of Gurugram diagnostic healthcare services for testing of Diabetes and Cancer (Cervical, Breast, and Prostate) to ensure early screening and detection of these life-threatening diseases.The DLF Mobile Wellness Unit will serve the community in Gurugram through Service Delivery Points across numerous locations.The Mobile Diagnostic Unit is equipped with an array of diagnostic facilities for conducting various pathological tests.
