Healthtech Trends for 2019 – Part 1

Healthcare’s current trend is to adopt new technology that will show significant and extraordinary changes over the next several years. Expected to reach $206 billion by 2020, the digital health market is redefining itself by applying digital technology to their main functional areas using an enhanced customer-centric approach. Here are major health care technology trends to watch in 2019 and 2020.

Telemedicine

One of the biggest drivers of accelerated change is the evolution in telemedicine and it is transforming the health care system. It is making it easier for patients to get access to specialists, in turn, improving diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, the availability of electronic records makes it simpler to forward documents to specialists. This can mean the difference between having and not having expert input on a case in rural areas. Heal care delivery is undergoing a transformation courtesy data-exchange platform. For instance, hospitals can now reduce readmission rates by providing real-time monitoring of patients outside the office because of the expanding development and use of wearable monitoring devices. It is now normal for remote monitoring systems to be included in post-discharge plans for patients.

The Internet of Medical Things

Internet of medical things (IoMT) is the combination of the internet of things (IoT) with telemedicine and telehealth technologies wherein various devices and mobile apps play a critical role in tracking and preventing chronic illnesses for many patients and their doctors. Health practitioners now use wearables as ECG and EKG monitors and can measure things like skin temperature, glucose level and blood pressure.

According to Frost & Sullivan, nearly 60 percent of operations in the health care field had adopted IoT or IoMT systems by 2017. By 2020, between 20 billion and 30 billion IoMT devices are expected to be deployed around the world. As per the report of Allied Market Research, the market for IoT devices in health care is anticipated to reach $136 billion by 2021. Practitioners will have many interesting options for providing health care more effectively.
